Raclin Murphy Museum of Art Launches New Free Digital Guide to Its Collections

The American museum teams up with the Bloomberg Connects app to enhance visits both on-site and remotely.

The Raclin Murphy Museum of Art, located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, has announced the launch of a new digital guide in partnership with Bloomberg Connects, a free app dedicated to arts and culture. This initiative aims to make the museum's collections more accessible to a wider audience, both on-site and remotely, and is part of a broader effort to modernize the visitor experience.

The guide is now available through the Bloomberg Connects app, which can be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play. It offers museum-specific content, including information on artworks, thematic tours, and expert commentary. The app, which already features hundreds of cultural institutions worldwide, also provides practical tools to enhance the visit, such as interactive maps and suggested itineraries.

One of the guide's key strengths is its emphasis on accessibility. It includes features such as voiceover, captions, audio transcripts, image zoom, font size adjustment, and automatic translation into 60 languages via Google Translate. These options allow a diverse audience, including people with disabilities and non-English speakers, to fully enjoy the collections.

In a statement, Joseph Antenucci Becherer, the museum's director, expressed pride in the partnership: "For the enrichment of campus and community, we are honored to be working in partnership with Bloomberg Connects." The museum, which opened in 2023, houses collections ranging from medieval to contemporary art, with works by masters such as Picasso, Matisse, and O'Keeffe.

This launch is part of a broader trend of museums adopting digital tools to extend their reach and improve the visitor experience. The digital guide will also allow the museum to reach an international audience eager to discover its collections from afar. Visitors can now download the app and explore the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art, whether before, during, or after a physical visit.
