Raul Mourão Takes Over Cais das Artes in Espírito Santo with Kinetic Sculptures
The Brazilian artist presents two monumental works in the outdoor area of the cultural complex designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, as part of the Ala Mar initiative.
Raul Mourão, a leading figure on Brazil's contemporary art scene, is known for sculptures and installations that play with movement and balance. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1967, he has explored since the 1990s the relationships between object, space and viewer, often with a playful or ironic dimension. His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Brazil and abroad, including the São Paulo Biennial and MAM Rio.
