Académie Charpentier

Presentation

Founded in 1945, the Académie Charpentier is a private Parisian art school, located in the Montparnasse district, historically linked to the artistic life of the capital. It follows the tradition of studio academies: teaching through practice, small studio numbers and close supervision by working professionals.

Programmes and strengths

The school is mainly identified with two tracks:

  • interior architecture and space design, with a long curriculum built around fit-out projects, scenography, furniture and representation (technical drawing, model-making, digital tools);
  • graphic arts / graphic design, focused on visual identity, publishing, illustration and visual communication.

Before these, a preparatory year allows students to build an artistic portfolio, acquire the fundamentals (observational drawing, colour, volume, image culture) and move towards one of the specialities or towards other higher schools of art and design.

The strengths highlighted by the school are the importance given to drawing and model-making, the project-based logic in the studio, workshops and internship periods, as well as contact with the Parisian professional world of interior design and communication.

To check before applying

As with any private institution, it is advisable to check with the school the exact status of the diplomas awarded (State recognition, RNCP registration, level, equivalences), the admission procedures and the cost of tuition, which change from year to year.
