The visual arts curriculum at Aix-Marseille Université (AMU) is attached to the UFR Arts, Lettres, Langues et Sciences humaines (ALLSH) and takes place mainly on the Aix-en-Provence campus. It is part of an arts department that also brings together other artistic fields taught at the university, such as cinema, performing arts and music.

Unlike an art school (DNA/DNSEP), the university program combines studio practice with theoretical teaching: history of modern and contemporary art, aesthetics, theories of the image, research methodology.
