ArtFX

ArtFX (Montpellier)

ArtFX is a private French school specialised in digital image professions: visual effects (VFX), 3D animation and video games. Founded in Montpellier, it has since opened other campuses in France, while keeping its historic site in the Hérault.

Profile and teaching approach

The school operates on a long-cycle curriculum model, structured around the production of films and collective projects: students work in teams, on pipelines close to those of studios, up to a graduation film or game presented at festivals and on professional platforms. This logic of a "class project" is one of the most identifiable traits of ArtFX.

The teaching covers compositing and digital special effects, simulation, modelling/texturing, lighting and rendering, character animation, as well as, on the video game side, game art, level design and programming. The software and working methods are those of the industry, and some of the instructors come from VFX, animation or game studios.

Strengths

  • Strong professional and technical orientation, with a school short-film culture.
  • International visibility of student films, notably at festivals and competitions dedicated to animation and VFX.
  • Network of graduates present in French and foreign studios.

To check before applying

As with any private school, it is advisable to check the exact level of recognition of the diploma (RNCP registration), the admission procedures (portfolio, interview) and the current tuition fees directly with the institution.
