Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire

A public school with two sites

Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire is a public art school, established as a public establishment for cultural cooperation, and located on two sites: Nantes, in a building set at the heart of l'île de Nantes (in the extension of the former industrial halls that were renovated), and Saint-Nazaire, near the estuary and its port heritage.

It awards the national diplomas of the art school curriculum under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture: the DNA (bachelor's degree level) after three years, then the DNSEP (master's degree level) after five years.

Teaching

The program is structured around the Art option, with courses in painting, drawing, sculpture and volume, photography, video, sound, performance, publishing and digital practices, complemented by art history, theory, and languages. Significant importance is given to technical workshops and workshops led by invited artists.

Progression to the second cycle relies on personal research work, accompanied by the writing of a dissertation and the preparation of a diploma exhibition.

Environment

The school benefits from a dense local artistic context: the Nantes scene, contemporary art institutions in the region, and proximity to creative programs in public space. International exchanges and internships complete the curriculum.

A public preparatory class also allows students to prepare for the entrance exams of art schools.
