Ecole Camondo Méditerranée - Toulon
Presentation
École Camondo Méditerranée is the Toulon branch of École Camondo, a private institution of higher education affiliated with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (MAD) in Paris. Opened in the early 2020s, it extends to the Sud region the pedagogy developed in Paris since the 1940s around space design and object design.
Training and disciplines
The five-year course leads to a diploma recognized at master's level and trains interior architects–designers. The teaching closely combines the scale of the object with that of inhabited space: interior projects, furniture, scenography, commercial or public spaces, as well as drawing, model-making, materials, digital tools, design culture and the humanities.
The pedagogy is based on the project studio, supervised by practicing professionals, complemented by workshops, internships and a personal final-year project. In Toulon, the school highlights issues specific to the Mediterranean territory: coastline, climate, local resources and materials, industrial and port heritage, tourism and urban transformations.
Strengths
- A connection to a major cultural institution, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, and its professional network.
- A class with limited enrollment and individualized, studio-type follow-up.
- A location in Provence favoring partnerships with regional businesses, local authorities and cultural players.
Admission is based on application review and interview, via Parcoursup for entry into the first year.
