Ecole Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne - Site de Quimper

Presentation

The Quimper site is part of the École Européenne Supérieure d'Art de Bretagne (EESAB), a public institution for higher artistic education under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, made up of four sites across Brittany (Brest, Lorient, Quimper, Rennes). This networked organisation allows students to benefit from a shared structure while following a curriculum rooted in the pedagogical identity of their site.

Programmes

Quimper awards the DNA (Diplôme National d'Art, bac+3) followed by the DNSEP (bac+5) in the Art option, diplomas recognised at the bachelor's and master's level. Admission is by entrance examination (tests and an interview with the presentation of a portfolio of personal work), after the baccalauréat or by equivalence during the course of study.

Strengths

The pedagogy is based on individualised guidance of the student's personal project, combined with theoretical teaching (art history, aesthetics, languages) and intensive work in technical workshops: drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, sound, publishing and digital tools.

A human scale, close relationships between students and teachers (artists, theorists, technicians) and strong integration into the local and regional cultural fabric characterise the Quimper site. Students take part in exhibitions, workshops and residencies, and may undertake international mobility through Erasmus+ or partnerships outside Europe.

Moving between EESAB sites is possible depending on the course of study, which broadens access to options not offered at Quimper (design, communication).
