École supérieure d’art d'Aix-en-Provence

L'École supérieure d'art d'Aix-en-Provence is a public institution of higher artistic education, a member of the network of French art schools (réseau des écoles supérieures d'art françaises). It awards national diplomas: the DNA (Diplôme National d'Art, bac+3, equivalent to a licence) and the DNSEP (bac+5, conferring master's degree status), in the Art option.

A curriculum centered on artistic practice

The program, organized into three years followed by two, combines practical workshops, theoretical courses (art history, aesthetics, languages) and individualized support for the student's personal research. The transition from the first to the second cycle is based on presenting work before a jury, with progressive guidance toward autonomy and professionalization.

Strengths

The school covers a wide range of media: drawing, painting, volume and sculpture, photography, video, digital images, publishing and writing, installation, performance. It is particularly recognized for its commitment to sound arts: it hosts the Locus Sonus research laboratory, dedicated to sound spaces, listening, and networked audio devices, developed in collaboration with other art schools.

Studies are also supported by workshops with guest artists, exhibitions, internships, and international partnerships enabling mobility during the program.
