The École supérieure d'art Dunkerque‑Tourcoing (ESÄ) is a public institution of higher artistic education under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture, born from the merger of the art schools of Dunkerque and Tourcoing. It operates on two complementary sites, each retaining its own pedagogical identity, within a single institutional project.

Programs

The Dunkerque site prepares students for the Diplôme National d'Art (DNA), equivalent to a bachelor's degree, in the field of art. The curriculum is organized around a common preparatory year, followed by progressive specialization leading to a personal practice. Continuing studies toward the DNSEP (master's degree) takes place within the institution.

Highlights

Teaching combines technical workshops (volume, image, sound, publishing, digital), theoretical courses (art history, aesthetics, English) and individualized guidance by artist‑teachers and theorists. Workshops, study trips and meetings with professionals punctuate the year.

Dunkerque's location is an asset: the city offers a dense cultural environment, notably with the FRAC Grand Large — Hauts‑de‑France and the LAAC, which foster partnerships, internships and exhibitions. The proximity to Belgium and the cross‑border area also opens onto international cooperation and exchanges (Erasmus+).
