Ecole supérieure d'art et de design TALM-Le Mans

Presentation

L'École supérieure d'art et de design TALM-Le Mans is one of the three sites of the public institution TALM (Tours, Angers, Le Mans), a higher art school under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture. It awards recognized national diplomas: the DNA (Diplôme National d'Art, bachelor's level) and the DNSEP (master's level), following a course of study organized in progressive years starting with a general first year.

Entry is mainly after the baccalauréat, through exams and an interview (portfolio of personal work), with possibilities of admission mid-course for students coming from other artistic programs.

Educational orientation

The Le Mans site, heir to the city's former école des beaux-arts, develops an Art track marked by a strong interest in volume, sculpture, installation and space-related practices, as well as sound creation. Teaching combines technical workshops (wood, metal, moulding, image, sound, publishing, digital) and theoretical courses (art history, aesthetics, English), centered on individualized guidance of the student's project.

As in other public art schools, the pedagogy relies on workshops, meetings with guest artists, exhibitions and gradual professionalization (internships, residencies, local cultural partnerships).

Good to know

Belonging to the TALM network allows for bridges and pooling of resources with the Tours and Angers sites, which offer other specializations, notably in design and conservation-restoration. It is advisable to consult the official website for the up-to-date offer of specializations.
