Ecole supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux

Presentation

The École supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux (ebabx) is a public higher education art school, heir to a long tradition of artistic teaching in the city. It falls under the Culture higher education system and awards recognized national diplomas: the DNA (Diplôme National d'Art, bac+3, bachelor's level) followed by the DNSEP (bac+5, master's level).

Disciplines and pedagogy

The training is organized around a first generalist year, during which students experiment with a wide range of practices, before a progressive specialization. The school offers pathways in art and design, with technical workshops: drawing, painting, volume and sculpture, ceramics, engraving and publishing, photography, video, sound, digital images, performance.

Teaching combines studio practice, theoretical courses (art history, aesthetics, visual culture) and individual monitoring of the student's personal project, with collective highlights (workshops, exhibitions, meetings with guest artists).

Strengths

The ebabx is part of an active Bordeaux cultural environment — museums, art centers, independent scene — which fosters internships, collaborations and the dissemination of student work. The performance/stage dimension and editorial practices occupy a notable place there.

The school also develops international partnerships (Erasmus+-type exchanges) and support for the professionalization and integration of young graduates.

Admission

Entry into the first year is done via Parcoursup, with review of the application file and admission tests including the presentation of a portfolio of personal works. Admissions during the course of study are possible through an equivalence committee.
