ENSA Dijon

Overview

The École nationale supérieure d'art de Dijon (ENSA Dijon) is a public institution of higher art education under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture. It awards national degrees equivalent to a bachelor's degree (DNA) and a master's degree (DNSEP), recognized within the European higher education area.

The school is part of a long tradition of drawing instruction in Dijon, inherited from the school founded in the 18th century by François Devosge, which produced artists such as the painter Pierre-Paul Prud'hon and the sculptor François Rude.

Disciplines

The curriculum is organized around two main orientations: Art and Design d'espace. Students engage with contemporary visual practices (painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, sound, installation, publishing, digital art) as well as space design, scenography, and the relationship of form to urban, landscape, or architectural context.

As in French higher art schools, the pedagogy is based on studio work, individualized mentoring, technical workshops, theoretical seminars (art history, aesthetics, languages), and workshops with invited artists and professionals.
