ENSAD Nancy

Introduction

The École nationale supérieure d'art et de design de Nancy (ENSAD Nancy) is a public institution of higher education under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture. It awards recognized national diplomas: the DNA (bachelor's level) after three years, then the DNSEP (master's level) after five years.

Heir to a long tradition of art education in Nancy, a city marked by Art nouveau and the École de Nancy, it now organizes its teaching around two major fields: art and design, with significant emphasis placed on graphic design and printed image.

Highlights

The pedagogy is based on individual guidance of the student's project, work in technical workshops (editing, screen printing, volume, photography, video, digital), and a strong connection between practice and research.

The school hosts the Atelier national de recherche typographique (ANRT), a high-level research structure devoted to typography and type design, which offers a post-diploma program. This presence makes Nancy a reference site in France for typography and type design.

ENSAD Nancy is part of the art school networks of the Grand Est region and develops international partnerships (Erasmus+ mobility programs), as well as collaborations with cultural institutions and economic actors in the region.

Admission

Entry into the first year is by competitive examination, through the national admission platform; admissions during the course of study are possible based on application review and interview.
