ENSA Paris-Cergy (ENSAPC)

Presentation

The École nationale supérieure d'arts de Paris-Cergy (ENSAPC) is a public higher art school under the supervision of the Ministère de la Culture. Located in Cergy, in the Cergy-Pontoise urban area connected to Paris by the RER A, it awards the DNA (bac+3) and the DNSEP (bac+5, master's degree).

A transdisciplinary pedagogy

ENSAPC stands out for the absence of tracks compartmentalized by medium: students do not choose a "department" (painting, sculpture, video…) but instead build a path through workshops, courses and research groups supervised by practicing artists, theorists and professionals. This organization encourages the crossing of practices and an early engagement with a personal project logic.

Disciplines and strengths

The practices covered notably include installation, performance, video and film, sound, photography, publishing and writing, digital arts, as well as pictorial and sculptural practices. The school places significant emphasis on theory and research, on an international dimension (exchanges, courses in English, residencies) and on professionalization through public presentation: exhibitions, workshops, artist invitations and collaborations with art venues and institutions.

ENSAPC also has an exhibition and research space, YGREC, which extends beyond the school's walls the work carried out by students and teachers.

Who it is for

It suits autonomous candidates, interested in an experimental and discursive approach to contemporary art rather than strictly technical and specialized training.
