ESÄ Dunkerque-Tourcoing

Presentation

The ESÄ Dunkerque-Tourcoing is a public higher art school in the Hauts-de-France region, organized across two sites: Dunkerque, on the coast, and Tourcoing, in the Lille metropolitan area. This dual location is its main distinguishing feature: students move within a single institution while benefiting from different territorial contexts, workshops and networks, with bridges and joint projects between the two cities.

Training

The school awards the national diplomas of the art curriculum: the DNA (three years, equivalent to a bachelor's degree) then the DNSEP (five years, equivalent to a master's degree), following a pedagogy based on the personal project, individual guidance and studio work.

Teaching combines traditional visual practices and contemporary media: drawing, painting, volume and sculpture, photography, video, sound, publishing and digital practices, backed by a solid education in art history and theory. Research, writing and collective experimentation hold an important place there.

Environment

The ESÄ is part of a cross-border territory rich in artistic institutions (museums, art centers, Fonds régional d'art contemporain, nearby Belgian venues), which fosters exhibitions, workshops, residencies and international exchanges.

It is part of the network of French higher art schools and regional artistic life.
