ESAAA Annecy

ESAAA — École supérieure d'art Annecy Alpes — is a public school of higher art education located in Annecy, in Haute-Savoie. As an institution of higher artistic education under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture, it awards recognized national diplomas: the DNA (three years post-secondary, equivalent to a licence) and the DNSEP (five years post-secondary, equivalent to a master's).

The school structures its teaching around two major fields: art and design d'espace. The first combines visual practices, image, volume, sound, video, performance, and publishing; the second explores interior architecture, landscape, scenography, and the uses of space, in close connection with the alpine and urban context of the region.

ESAAA stands out for its strong research and publishing component: it carries out research programs, publishing activities, and lecture series bringing together artists, designers, theorists, and researchers. This dimension feeds into the pedagogy, which is grounded in studio work, individualized mentoring, and the development of personal projects.

The curricula are based on critical mentoring, technical workshops (wood, metal, volume, digital, image, printing), and workshops led by outside contributors. International mobility, internships, and partnerships with exhibition venues and cultural institutions in the region round out the training.

Admission is through an entrance competition (application file and interview), with the possibility of joining the program mid-course through equivalency. The school also welcomes amateur audiences through open courses and workshops.
