ÉSAD Orléans

ÉSAD Orléans (École supérieure d'art et de design d'Orléans) is a public institution of higher artistic education under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture. Heir to the city's school of fine arts, it has progressively refocused on design, making it one of the rare French higher art schools entirely dedicated to this field.

Programs

The school awards the national diplomas of the art schools network: the DNA (bac+3, bachelor's degree) and the DNSEP (bac+5, master's degree), in the Design option. Entry into the first year is through a competitive examination after the baccalauréat, with possibilities for mid-course admission via an equivalence committee.

Strengths

The pedagogy combines object design, spatial design, graphic and visual design, and above all design of media and digital objects — a signature focus of the institution, which explores the relationships between materials, fabrication, code and interaction.

Students work in technical workshops (wood, metal, volume, printing, digital prototyping, photography, sound and video) and are supervised by teachers who are often practitioners: designers, graphic artists, artists, theorists.

ÉSAD Orléans also develops a design research activity, supported by programs conducted with academic, industrial and cultural partners, as well as workshops, exhibitions and publications. It is a member of ANdÉA and offers international exchanges as part of Erasmus+.
