ESAD de Reims

The ESAD de Reims (École supérieure d'art et de design de Reims) is a public institution of higher art education under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture. It awards the national diplomas of the art school curriculum: the DNA (bac+3) and the DNSEP (bac+5), which carries master's degree status.

Admission is by competitive examination, generally after a preparatory year or a baccalauréat, and the school offers the two main tracks of the network: Art and Design.

Disciplines and strengths

The design department constitutes the school's most visible identity, with teaching oriented towards object design, spatial design and graphic design. The pedagogy is based on the studio, the project, and a culture of material experimentation.

The ESAD de Reims is especially recognized for having been one of the pioneering places of culinary design in France: this line of research, developed notably around the work of Marc Bretillot, approaches food as a material for creation and project work, and has helped make the school known well beyond the region.

The Art track draws on contemporary visual practices: volume, image, publishing, installation, video.
