ESAD TALM (Tours-Angers-Le Mans)

Overview

ESAD TALM is a public institution of higher art education under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, born from the merger of the art schools of Tours, Angers and Le Mans. The three sites form a single institution while each retaining its own identity and pedagogical orientations.

The school awards the national diplomas of the network of higher art schools: the DNA (bachelor's level) and the DNSEP (master's level, conferring the grade of master), in art and design depending on the campus.

Strengths

The Tours campus is notably recognized for its teaching in the conservation-restoration of sculpted works and heritage, a rare specialty in France, alongside teaching in art and design.

The Le Mans site is known for its work around sound and sound design, while Angers develops orientations in art and design (object, space, publishing depending on the track).

This multi-site organization allows for bridges, joint workshops and access to a variety of technical studios: volume, ceramics, metal, wood, printed image, photography, video, digital.

Good to know

As in all public higher art schools, admission to the first year is through an entrance exam (tests and interview with presentation of a portfolio of personal works), and mid-course admissions are possible through an equivalency committee.
