ESADHaR (Le Havre-Rouen)
ESADHaR — École supérieure d'art et design Le Havre-Rouen
ESADHaR is a public institution of higher artistic education located in two cities in Normandy: Le Havre and Rouen. Born from the merger of the art schools of the two territories, it awards national diplomas recognized by the Ministère de la Culture — DNA (bachelor's level) and DNSEP (master's level) — following a course of study organized around the studio, personal project, and research.
Disciplines
The school covers mainly the fields of art and design graphique, with strong attention to image, publishing, typography, and digital practices. It is also known for offering a création littéraire program, a rare orientation in the landscape of French art schools, which links writing, visual arts, and publishing.
Strengths
- Technical workshops (publishing and printing, photography, sculpture, sound and video) accessible to students as part of their projects.
- A presence in two cities with complementary cultural contexts: Le Havre, a port city with 20th-century architectural heritage listed by UNESCO, and Rouen, rich in a dense museum and heritage network.
- Partnerships with regional cultural institutions and Erasmus+ type international mobility.
- A research dimension, with seminars, publications, and projects carried out in connection with invited artists and authors.
Admission is by entrance examination (application file and interview) after the baccalauréat, or by an equivalence committee for entry mid-course.
