Founded in 1875, the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP) is one of the oldest private higher education institutions in France. Its historic campus is located on rue d'Assas, in the 6th arrondissement, close to the Latin Quarter and Paris's major cultural institutions.

The ICP is a multidisciplinary university recognized by the State as a private higher education institution of general interest (EESPIG). It brings together faculties and institutes in theology, philosophy, canon law, social and economic sciences, education, letters and languages, as well as an institute teaching French to foreign students.

On the art side

For students interested in the arts, the ICP offers a licence in Histoire de l'art et archéologie, accessible via Parcoursup. This university-type program covers the major periods (Antiquity, Middle Ages, modern and contemporary eras) and combines theoretical courses, methodology, languages and work on artworks, with extensive use of Parisian museums and sites. The institution emphasizes close pedagogical supervision and personalized support, characteristic of its private model.

This program mainly prepares students for further studies at the master's level (research, heritage, art market, mediation, publishing professions) and for competitive exams in culture and education. It is not an art practice school: candidates wishing to produce artworks should aim for an art school.
