Institut Catholique de Toulouse

Presentation

The Institut Catholique de Toulouse (ICT) is a private higher education institution founded in the 19th century, one of the historic Catholic institutes of France. Located in the heart of Toulouse, it is characterized by a human-scale multidisciplinary offering, organized around faculties and institutes: theology, philosophy, canon law, arts and humanities, law, as well as programs in art and music.

Art Orientation

In the artistic field, ICT offers a licence Arts program, accessible via Parcoursup. The approach here is clearly academic: art history, aesthetics, musical culture and analysis, research methodology, with an emphasis on the humanities and the cultural and spiritual foundations of creation. This is therefore a theoretical and cultural curriculum, more oriented towards the study of the arts than towards intensive studio practice or professional design: students aiming for a career as a visual artist or designer would be better suited to a public art school or a specialized private school.

Points of Attention

The institution is recognized for its close supervision, its small class sizes, and its environment of libraries and research in the humanities. As with any private institution, it is advisable to check directly with the school the exact status of the diploma awarded, the terms of State recognition, and the amount of tuition fees for the target year, as well as career prospects (teaching, cultural mediation, heritage, continuation to a master's degree).
