ISBA Besançon

L'Institut supérieur des beaux-arts de Besançon (ISBA) is a public art school in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, under the supervision of the ministère de la Culture. It awards recognized national diplomas: the DNA (bac+3, licence level) and the DNSEP (bac+5, master level), following an entrance examination and the presentation of a portfolio of personal work.

The school is organized around two main orientations: art (contemporary visual practices: painting, drawing, sculpture, three-dimensional work, photography, video, installation, sound, performance) and graphic design / visual communication (typography, publishing, printed image, digital creation). Screen printing, engraving and print workshops occupy an important place, alongside digital tools.

The teaching is based on studio work, individual mentoring by practicing artists, designers and theorists, and sustained instruction in art history, aesthetics and languages. Students are supported in their professionalization: internships, workshops with guest speakers, participation in exhibitions and in commissions or projects carried out with cultural partners in the region. International mobility is possible through European exchange programs.

Located in a human-scale university town, the ISBA offers a close-knit working environment, conducive to close mentoring, within a cultural setting marked by the presence of heritage institutions and contemporary creative scenes. It also offers public courses open to amateurs.
