isdaT Toulouse

L'isdaT — institut supérieur des arts et du design de Toulouse is a public institution of higher artistic education, born from the merger of the École des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse and the city's centre d'études supérieures de musique et de danse. This double lineage makes it one of the rare French schools to bring together, under a single direction, the visual arts and the performing arts.

Two poles

The visual arts pole prepares students for the national diplomas DNA (bachelor's degree level) and then DNSEP (master's degree level), with orientations in art, graphic design, and space design. The teaching is based on the studio, individualized guidance of the personal project, theoretical culture, and mastery of technical workshops (editing, volume, image, sound, digital).

The performing arts pole offers curricula in music and dance, including the diplômes nationaux supérieurs professionnels d'artiste (musician, dancer) and training leading to the diplôme d'État de professeur of music and dance. This pedagogical dimension constitutes a strong specificity of the institution.

Context

Located in downtown Toulouse, the school is part of a dense cultural fabric (stages, festivals, art centers) and develops cross-disciplinary projects between its programs, as well as international exchanges within the European framework.

Admission to visual arts is by entrance competition (portfolio of personal works and interview), with the possibility of entry mid-course through an equivalence committee. The music and dance curricula include specific artistic examinations.
