Lycée Alain Colas

Presentation

Lycée Alain Colas is a public educational institution located in Nevers, in Bourgogne. Alongside its general and technological programs, it hosts an applied arts department offering higher education in DN MADE (Diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design), a bachelor's-level diploma awarded over three years.

Programs

Three specializations are represented there:

  • Graphisme: visual identity, typography, publishing, printed and digital communication.
  • Objet: product design, materials, volume, prototyping.
  • Espace: interior architecture, scenography, layout and relationship to place.

This combination allows for cross-perspectives between the three major design families within a single institution, fostering transversal projects and a shared project culture.

Strengths

As in all DN MADE programs, the pedagogy relies on project workshops, teaching of arts, design and technical culture, visual expression, as well as internships and professional partnerships. The third year leads to the writing and defense of a thesis and a personal project.

As a human-scale public institution located outside major metropolitan areas, it constitutes an attractive option for students seeking close supervision and contained study costs, with possible continuation into DSAA, a master's degree, or a higher school of art and design.

Admission is through Parcoursup, based on application file and motivated project.
