Lycée Ambroise Vollard

Lycée Ambroise Vollard is a public institution located in Saint-Pierre, in the south of Réunion Island. Alongside its secondary programmes, it hosts a higher education division in design and craft trades, making it one of the rare gateways to applied arts studies on the island.

The school owes its name to Ambroise Vollard (1866-1939), an art dealer born in Saint-Denis de La Réunion, known for having supported and exhibited Cézanne, Gauguin and Picasso — a reference that places the school within a tradition of mediation between creation and dissemination.

Programmes and strengths

The lycée offers the DN MADE (Diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design), a bachelor's-level diploma over three years, with two tracks:

• Mode: clothing, textile, accessories, from collection drawing to prototyping.
• Graphisme: visual identity, typography, publishing, print and digital communication.

The DN MADE pedagogy combines theoretical teaching (arts and design culture, technologies), practical workshops and projects, with internships and a final-cycle project. The curriculum then allows for professional integration or further study at master's level, in a higher school of art or design.
