Lycée Cantau

Lycée Cantau is a public educational institution located in Anglet, on the Basque coast, between Bayonne and Biarritz. Alongside its lycée programs, it hosts a higher education design department offering DN MADE (Diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design) programs, a three-year degree conferring the grade of licence.

Programs and strengths

Two specializations are offered: Matériaux and Espace. The Matériaux specialization approaches design through experimentation and material knowledge, fabrication and prototyping, with significant emphasis on workshop practice. The Espace specialization focuses on interior design, interior architecture, scenography and environmental design, from site analysis through to representation and project execution.

The DN MADE pedagogy is built on project-based teaching, humanities and design culture, plastic and technical practices, as well as internships and projects conducted with professional partners. The more specialized third year concludes with a personal project and a dissertation, leading either to professional integration or to further studies at master's level or in a higher art and design school.

Context

Being located in the Basque Country, a territory marked by craftsmanship and the wood, textile and board sports industries, offers a favorable environment for collaborations and internships.

Admission is through Parcoursup, based on application review (personal work and statement of motivation).
