Lycée Carnot

Overview

Lycée Carnot is a public institution of general and technical education located in Cannes. Beyond its secondary-level programs, it hosts a recognized higher education hub in the audiovisual field, offering several options of the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel (MAV).

Disciplines and strengths

The BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel is offered here in several of its options, covering the full production chain of a work or program:

• Métiers de l'image: framing, lighting, camera work;
• Gestion de la production: preparation, budgeting, shoot organization;
• Techniques d'ingénierie et exploitation des équipements: control room, networks, technical systems;
• as well as other options of the same BTS (sound, editing and postproduction depending on the current offering).

The teaching approach relies largely on teamwork practice: shooting exercises, group projects, studio and control-room work, and internship periods in companies. Students collaborate across options, much like on a professional set.

A notable asset: being based in Cannes, a city of festivals and film shoots, fosters contact with professionals in image and entertainment, as well as occasional assignments during events.

Admission is through Parcoursup, with an application generally attentive to motivation, scientific or technical level depending on the option, and curiosity about audiovisual work. The BTS allows for direct entry into the workforce as well as further studies toward a licence, film school, or specialized training.
