Lycée Charles De Gaulle

The lycée Charles de Gaulle in Chaumont is a public institution that offers, alongside its general and technological programmes, a higher education pole in design and craft trades with the DN MADE (Diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design), a bachelor's-level diploma completed in three years.

Two specializations are represented there according to the Parcoursup 2024 data: Graphisme and Espace. The former covers visual identity, typography, publishing, poster design, and digital media; the latter deals with spatial design, scenography, volume, and the relationship to place. In both cases, the pedagogy combines project-based workshops, arts and design culture, technologies and representation tools, along with internships and a final-cycle project.

The location in Chaumont is a particular asset for graphic design: the city hosts the Signe, centre national du graphisme and an international event devoted to posters and graphic design, as well as a reference poster collection. This environment gives students regular access to exhibitions, meetings with graphic designers, and workshops.

As with any DN MADE offered in a lycée, admission is through Parcoursup based on an application file (with expectations in plastic arts practice and artistic culture). The diploma enables either direct professional integration or further study at master's level, in a DSAA, or at a higher school of art and design.
