Le Lycée de la Communication Saint-Géraud is an institution in Aurillac, in the Cantal, that has specialized in communication and design professions. Beyond its general and technological programs, it hosts a higher education center in applied arts, making it one of the few places to train in design in the department.

Programs and disciplines

The school offers several tracks of the DN MADE (Diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design), a bachelor's-level diploma over three years:

• Graphisme: visual identity, typography, publishing, illustration, print and screen communication;
• Numérique: interface and experience design, motion design, interactive and multimedia media;
• Matériaux: an approach to materials, volume and fabrication, with substantial studio work.

The teaching approach is based on alternating between theoretical courses (culture of arts, design and techniques), project workshops and internship periods, with commissions and partnerships allowing students to engage with real-world contexts.

Who it is for

The human-scale structure and local roots are the institution's main characteristics: supervision is close, within a living environment and housing cost more accessible than in large metropolitan areas. The DN MADE then allows for professional integration or continuation toward a higher diploma (DSAA, master's, art and design schools).
