Lycée Denis Diderot

Overview

Lycée Denis Diderot is a public school in Marseille that, alongside its general and technological programs, hosts a higher education pole in applied arts. It is one of the public high schools in the académie d'Aix-Marseille authorized to award the DN MADE (Diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design), a bachelor's-level diploma admitted via Parcoursup.

Programs and strengths

Three DN MADE mentions are offered there:

• Graphisme: visual identity, typography, editorial design, images and digital media;
• Espace: interior architecture, scenography, spatial design and volume;
• Mode: clothing, textile, accessories, from sketch to prototype.

The course runs over three years and combines studio practice, culture in arts and design, technologies and digital tools, as well as general subjects (languages, humanities, economics and project management). Internship periods and partnership projects punctuate the path, with increasing autonomy up to the end-of-cycle project.

As in most public institutions, guidance is provided by applied arts teachers and visiting professionals, aiming to prepare students for professional integration or further studies in DSAA, master's programs, or higher schools of art and design.
