Lycée des Métiers - Léonard de Vinci

Presentation

The Lycée Léonard de Vinci in Villefontaine, in the Isère department, is a public institution labelled « lycée des métiers ». Located in the Porte de l'Isère urban area, close to Lyon, it welcomes secondary school students and students in short, career-oriented higher education programs.

Its distinctiveness lies in its audiovisual hub: the institution offers the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel in several of its options, notably métiers de l'image, montage et postproduction and gestion de la production, alongside other technical and vocational tracks. This grouping of options allows students to work together on shooting projects, mirroring real production teams, where the director of photography, editor, sound technician and production manager collaborate.

Strengths

  • A highly practice-oriented training program: sets, control rooms, editing suites and professional equipment, with supervised projects from location scouting through to delivery.
  • Internship periods in companies that build an initial network within production companies, television channels, technical service providers and cultural organizations in the Lyon region.
  • Possible entry into the workforce directly after the BTS, or continued studies in a licence professionnelle, a film school or a university program related to image and sound.

Good to know

Applications for the BTS are made via Parcoursup; applications are reviewed taking into account academic background and demonstrated interest in audiovisual media. It is advisable to check each year with the institution which options are actually open.
