Lycée Jean Rostand

The lycée Jean Rostand de Roubaix is a public institution of general, technological and vocational education which offers, beyond the secondary curriculum, short higher education programs in the audiovisual field. It is among the lycées of the Hauts-de-France region identified for preparation of the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel.

Programs and specializations

The institution offers several options of the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel, covering a large part of the production chain of a work or program:

  • Métiers de l'image: framing, lighting, camera work, color grading;
  • Montage et post-production: narration, editing, effects and finishing;
  • Gestion de la production: organization, budgets, schedules, production management;
  • an additional option of the same BTS, to be verified on the current year's Parcoursup listing.

The program combines technical instruction, film and audiovisual culture, applied physical sciences, business and economics, and English. Work is largely project-based, with shoots and exercises carried out in teams across the different options — an organization close to real set conditions. Internship periods in companies complete the curriculum.

Who this is for

This type of curriculum suits students seeking a professionalizing and technical training after the baccalauréat, rather than a theoretical path. Upon completion of the BTS, graduates enter technical roles in audiovisual production or continue toward licences professionnelles, film schools or specialized programs.

It is recommended to check the lycée's website and Parcoursup to find out which options are actually open each year and the selection requirements.
