Lycée L'Initiative

Presentation

Le Lycée L'Initiative is a public institution in Paris, located in the 19th arrondissement. A comprehensive lycée, it welcomes secondary school students as well as students in higher education programs, including a division dedicated to design and applied arts.

Design Program

The school offers a DN MADE mention Graphisme, a national diploma in arts and design crafts awarded under the authority of the ministère de l'Éducation nationale. This three-year post-bac program confers the grade of licence and prepares students both for professional integration and for further studies in DSAA, at an école supérieure d'art, or in a master's program.

The curriculum combines studio practice with theoretical teaching: typography, layout, visual identity, illustration, editorial design, digital tools, and the culture of arts, design, and techniques. Students work on projects, often in connection with external clients, and progressively develop a personal portfolio.

Key Points

As with most DN MADE programs, admission takes place through Parcoursup, based on an application file and presentation of personal work; a bac général, technologique (STD2A), or professionnel in the relevant field can lead to it, often after a remise à niveau or a preparatory year in applied arts.

A public institution, the lycée offers an accessible training environment, rooted in northeastern Paris, close to a dense network of agencies, studios, and cultural institutions favorable to internships and professional encounters.

It is advisable to consult the school's website and open house days to learn the details of the courses and pathways offered.
