Lycée La Martinière-Diderot

Lycée La Martinière Diderot is a public institution in Lyon born from the merger of Lycée La Martinière Terreaux and Lycée Diderot. It stands within the heritage of the La Martinière schools, founded through the bequest of Claude Martin and considered among the first French technical schools. Today it is one of the main public centers for design and craft training in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Programs and strengths

The institution offers a wide range of DN MADE (national diploma in art and design professions), covering in particular the espace, mode, graphisme, objet and matériaux pathways, as well as further studies in DSAA (design, master's level) and BTS programs in the fields of design and fashion trades. The lycée also hosts general and technological tracks, including teaching in applied arts.

Its main strengths: public status (reduced tuition fees at university rates), well-equipped technical workshops (textile, volume, materials, digital fabrication), and teaching that combines project culture, workshop practice, and contact with Lyon's professional circles (fashion and textile, interior architecture, visual communication).

Admission to DN MADE programs is through Parcoursup, based on application file and cover letter, along with a portfolio of personal work. The diversity of pathways allows students to progressively refine their orientation, while remaining within the same institution for the three years of the bachelor's degree.
