Lycée Mémona Hintermann-Afféjee

Overview

The lycée Mémona Hintermann-Afféjee is a public educational institution located in Saint-Denis, the capital of La Réunion. It bears the name of the journalist Mémona Hintermann-Afféjee, born on the island, who was for a long time a senior reporter for France Télévisions — a namesake that echoes the audiovisual vocation of the institution.

Its distinctiveness, at the scale of the Réunion territory, lies in its short higher education program in the field of image and sound: the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel, offered in two tracks:

  • Métiers de l'image: framing, shooting, lighting, color grading, image culture and visual writing;
  • Techniques d'ingénierie et exploitation des équipements: implementation and maintenance of recording, broadcasting and control room equipment.

The teaching combines audiovisual and artistic culture, science and technology, and a significant amount of practical work on set and during filming, with projects carried out as a team in the manner of a production. Internship periods in companies (production companies, local channels, technical service providers, event organizers) serve as a foundation for professional integration or further studies in licence professionnelle and specialized schools.

For a student from La Réunion or the Indian Ocean region, the main advantage is being able to pursue a recognized technical training in audiovisual professions without leaving the territory.

It is advisable to check on Parcoursup and with the lycée the options actually open each year and the expectations of the program.
