Lycée Mézeray Gabriel

Le lycée Mézeray-Gabriel is a public institution in Argentan, in the Orne (Normandie). Formed from the merger of two schools in the city, it offers general, technological and vocational programmes, as well as short-cycle higher education in design.

In the field of applied arts, the institution hosts a DN MADE mention Objet (diplôme national des métiers d'art et du design, bachelor's level, over three years). The programme is aimed at students interested in object design: furniture, products, accessories, utilitarian objects or small-series editions.

The curriculum combines theoretical teaching (culture of arts, design and techniques, humanities, languages) with intensive project work: drawing, representation, model-making, prototyping, knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes. Studio work occupies a central place, with increasingly autonomous exercises leading, in the third year, to a personal project defended before a jury.

As in other DN MADE programmes, the pedagogy relies on workshops, professional encounters and internships. The diploma enables entry into product design professions or further studies at master's level, DSAA, or in higher schools of art and design.

The modest scale of the institution fosters individualised support for students.
