Lycée Pierre Corneille

A historic lycée turned audiovisual hub

Lycée Pierre-Corneille is one of the oldest schools in France: heir to the Jesuit college of Rouen, it still occupies ancient buildings at the heart of the city today. A public institution, it combines general education with short-cycle higher education, including a well-regarded department in image and sound trades.

The BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel

The school hosts several tracks of the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel:

• Métiers de l'image: camera work, lighting, cinematography, color grading;
• Gestion de la production: preparation, planning, budgets, law and organization of shoots;
• Montage et post-production: editing, graphics, workflow and finishing of programs.

The program, accessible after the bac (general, technological or vocational track depending on profiles), combines technical teaching, film and audiovisual culture, applied physical sciences and English. It relies heavily on hands-on practice on set and in technical rooms, as well as on collective projects and internship periods in companies, which prepare students for the realities of television, film and institutional production.

The BTS provides direct professional entry (camera assisting, editing, production management, production) but also serves as a springboard toward licences, professional licences or specialized film and audiovisual schools.

Alumni

Among the students who have passed through the institution over the centuries are Pierre Corneille, Gustave Flaubert, Guy de Maupassant and Marcel Duchamp.
