Lycée polyvalent Pointe Noire

The Lycée polyvalent de Pointe-Noire is a public institution located on the sous-le-vent (leeward) coast of Basse-Terre, in Guadeloupe. Like any polyvalent lycée, it combines general, technological and vocational programs, as well as short-cycle higher education in the form of BTS degrees.

Its distinctive feature in the Caribbean landscape lies in its audiovisual hub: the institution offers the BTS Métiers de l'audiovisuel, with the Métiers de l'image option and the Techniques d'ingénierie et exploitation des équipements option. This is one of the few offerings of this kind in the region, making it a local gateway into the technical professions of film, television and content production.

Content and skills. The Métiers de l'image option trains students in framing, camera work, lighting and color grading, with a grounding in visual storytelling. The Techniques d'ingénierie et exploitation des équipements option prepares students for the operation and maintenance of capture, broadcast and control room equipment. In both cases, the training combines technical instruction, audiovisual culture and periods in professional settings, with team-based projects — an approach close to real set conditions.

After the BTS. Graduates can enter directly into production, post-production or technical service sectors, or continue on to a licence professionnelle, a specialized school or university, in mainland France or elsewhere.
