Lycée professionnel de l'Ameublement
Presentation
The Lycée professionnel de l'Ameublement de Revel is a public institution specialised in wood, furniture and applied arts trades. It is rooted in a territory strongly identified with cabinetmaking and marquetry: since the 19th century, Revel has been a recognised centre for art furniture and craft trades in Occitanie.
Programmes and strengths
The school covers a wide spectrum, from the CAP and the baccalauréat professionnel through to higher education, centred on cabinetmaking, joinery, fitting-out and finishing. Traditional know-how (marquetry, furniture restoration, upholstery depending on the session) sits alongside contemporary computer-aided design and manufacturing tools.
At post-baccalauréat level, the institution offers the DN MADE mention Objet and the DN MADE mention Patrimoine (national diploma in crafts and design, bachelor's level, over three years). One track leads towards the design of objects and furniture, the other towards the knowledge, conservation and revaluation of material heritage and know-how.
Pedagogy
The training combines workshop practice, drawing, applied arts culture and projects, with significant emphasis placed on materials and technical gesture. Links with local furniture businesses and internships facilitate professional integration or further studies (DSAA, higher schools of art and design).
A relevant profile for students drawn to a design practice grounded in material craftsmanship.
