Université Côte d'Azur
A multidisciplinary university on the Côte d'Azur
Université Côte d'Azur is the public university of Nice and its region, heir to the Université Nice Sophia Antipolis. It brings together faculties, schools and research laboratories across several campuses in Nice and in the Sophia Antipolis technology park, and is among the French institutions distinguished by a label of excellence (Idex).
The arts at campus Carlone
Artistic teaching is mainly attached to the faculté des Lettres, Arts et Sciences humaines, located at campus Carlone, in the hills above Nice. It notably offers a licence Arts du spectacle, where theatre and cinema are studied from a historical, theoretical and practical perspective: film and performance analysis, dramaturgy, aesthetics, acting or directing workshops depending on the track, with possible continuation into a master's and research.
The program is primarily academic: it trains students in writing, critical analysis and artistic culture, and opens the way toward careers in cultural mediation, programming, cultural administration, criticism, teaching or research, more than toward immediate technical professionalization.
Good to know
The university collaborates with the local cultural fabric (theatres, festivals, heritage institutions of the Côte d'Azur) and offers international mobility programs. Students seeking training more centered on stage or image practice can combine it with a conservatoire or a specialized school.
