The Université de Bretagne Occidentale (UBO) is the multidisciplinary university of the western tip of Brittany, headquartered in Brest. It has satellite campuses, notably in Quimper, where university-level higher education is grouped within a local hub (pôle universitaire Pierre-Jakez Hélias).

The Quimper site allows students to complete the first years of several bachelor's degrees (licences) in a human-scale environment, with smaller class sizes than in Brest and close-knit supervision, while awarding the same national degrees as the university.
