A major humanities university at the gates of Paris

Established in the late 1960s under the name Paris X, the Université Paris Nanterre is a multidisciplinary institution set on a vast campus in Nanterre, directly connected to Paris by the RER. It is historically associated with the student movements of May 68, of which it was one of the epicenters.

Artistic and cultural programs

In the field of the arts, Nanterre is especially known for its Arts du spectacle degrees (theatre, cinema, sometimes dance depending on the track) and Histoire de l'art et archéologie, complemented by degrees in History, Literature, Philosophy, or Information-Communication. The approach here is academic: history, aesthetics, analysis of works, research methodology, with practical dimensions and projects depending on the track.
