Université Toulouse 2 - Antenne Montauban
A satellite campus of Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès
The Montauban campus is a university site attached to Université Toulouse 2 - Jean Jaurès (UT2J), one of the major French universities for humanities, languages, social sciences and arts, whose main campus is located in Toulouse (Mirail).
Its purpose is to offer, closer to home, the first years of the licence to students from Tarn-et-Garonne and neighboring departments, in a smaller setting than the large Toulouse campus. Continuing the course of study (subsequent years of the licence, then the master) generally then takes place in Toulouse.
The Arts program
The L1 Arts is part of the offerings of the UFR Lettres, Philosophie, Musique, Arts du spectacle, Arts plastiques et Arts appliqués. This is a university-based program: both practice (studio work, creation) and theory — art history, aesthetics, image and artwork analysis, academic methodology — are studied.
Depending on the tracks offered, the Arts domain of UT2J covers in particular visual arts, applied arts, design, film and audiovisual studies, performing arts, and music. It is therefore worth checking on Parcoursup and on the university's website which specific tracks are actually taught in Montauban each year.
Who this suits
A relevant choice for those seeking a university-based approach to art (research, teaching, mediation, culture) rather than a professionally oriented art school such as DNA/DNSEP.
