23ème édition du salon de la caricature anti-guerre de Kragujevac

From 8 to 13 September, Suresnes hosts the 23rd edition of the Salon des caricatures anti-guerre, which was held in October 2025 in Kragujevac, in Serbie. Twinned with the city of Kragujevac since 1967, Suresnes hosts this exhibition every other year, presenting the works from the anti-war caricature competition initiated by the Parc mémoriel « Kragujevački Oktobar ». Conceived in 1981 to pay tribute to the thousands of civilian victims of the massacre of 21 October 1941, executed by the German occupying forces, this competition recalls, through the eyes of cartoonists from around the world, the importance of peace, dialogue between peoples and the defence of freedoms. Drawing as a universal language Without speeches or borders, caricature possesses a unique power: that of making us think, moving us, sometimes making us smile, but always questioning our view of the world. The works presented in this exhibition address conflicts, human rights, freedom, the excesses of war, and even the hope for a more peaceful future. They testify to the talent of cartoonists from all five continents and remind us that art remains a formidable tool for dialogue between peoples. 1,442 caricatures, submitted by 506 cartoonists from 67 countries, were received for this 23rd edition, thus setting a record for participation in this event since its creation in 1981. 50 of them will be on display at this exhibition at the médiathèque de Suresnes, including the drawing by the Italian artist Marco de Angelis, who won the prix de la Ville de Suresnes.
