Banquet Kréol — Le Point Fort d'Aubervilliers
Le Point Fort d'Aubervilliers

5 hours of celebration for the whole family with Akiyo, Roger Raspail & Karaïb Kollectif Ensemb, open air La Sun Goes Down food court, parade, activities & exhibitions on Friday 9 October To open this anniversary edition, Villes des Musiques du Monde invites you to a grand Banquet Kréol: an evening where food, dance and music respond to one another between the chapiteau, the Halle and the open air of the Point Fort. Under the Halle, the creole banquet and its community-run food court are in full swing alongside activities from the collectives Les Poussières and Fer à Coudre and the opening of two exhibitions, before the night tips over into the grand concert by Akiyo, led by François Ladrezeau and his guests, ending with a great koud tambou. Under the chapiteau, the evening opens with the Guadeloupe Electronic Groove paying tribute to Claude Kiavué (aka Jimmy), who created « Fêtes et Forts » in 1984, the first major hip-hop and dance festival in France. This pioneering event took place at the Fort d'Aubervilliers. It then gives way to master percussionist Roger Raspail and his Karaïb Kollectif Ensemb. Meanwhile, the open air stage hosts La Sun Goes Down, featuring Horde, to extend the festivities until midnight.
