As part of the lecture series accompanying the exhibition C'était Paris en 1970, we welcome Emmanuel Bellanger, research director at the CNRS. Lecture: C'était la banlieue en 1970 : un monde en profonde mutation In Paris as in the suburbs, the 1970s were marked by three major upheavals: the overhaul of local political institutions, the end of the golden age of industrial towns, and the beginning of the disintegration of "red Paris" and the "red suburbs". During this period, the final pages of the history of Grand Paris were turned just as the "suburban crisis" began to make headlines. BOOKINGS OPEN ON AUGUST 23, 2026
