Sonia Gomes transforms textiles, carriers of memory and stories, into quasi-organic sculptures. Nourished by her Afro-Brazilian heritage, her work weaves sensitive narratives, both intimate and collective. Sonia Gomes's practice is rooted in her Afro-Brazilian heritage and relies on the use of worn textiles, which she transforms into sculptures with quasi-organic forms. Nourished by stories and rituals passed down from generation to generation, her work turns textile into a language of care, memory and resistance. Between art and craft, she explores the connections between individual and collective histories, revealing the emotional charge of objects. At the Palais de Tokyo, a selection of works from the last twenty years enters into dialogue with the architecture of the space.
