From September 15 to November 5, Thomas Busuttil and the Ville de Paris invite Parisians to an introspection into the world of skateboarding and its appropriation of public space, through an exhibition presented on the Quai Solférino. Thomas Busuttil is a skater and photographer, behind several Parisian skate parks. The images from his project « Ce que le béton retient » speak of surfaces — those we cross without seeing them, those we develop without knowing why, those we appropriate in ways other than intended. Fontaine de Jouvence - 2022; Credits: Thomas Busuttil The gaze that produced them comes from a street culture, one that spots a hidden geometry in ordinary concrete, an improbable beach in a dry canal, the trace of a desire for space in an abandoned ramp at the back of a port. Shot on analog and digital film, in black and white and color, these photographs offer a ground-level reading of the contemporary urban world. Ce que le béton retient "Ordinary photos of an everyday life moving at several speeds. Images that tell the emotions of someone who watches - from the street corner, to the four corners of the world. An archaeology of the present, on the move. Without nostalgia. An attention to what our bodies do to spaces and what spaces do to our bodies. Each time with the same intention: to take possession of a space, to measure it with the body, to make something of it, to experience it in one's own way. An ode to wear, to sliding, to experimentation, to fleeting presence. To the memory of passage." Thomas Busuttil
